Forest Creek Golf - Pinehurst, NC

I was lucky enough to play an two amazing golf courses this past week in Pinehurst North Carolina. Wally and Char Washburn were kind enough to arrange two great days at their private club Forest Creek (click here to see an aerial shot of the course). Both courses were designed by Tom Fazio and have been ranked among the top private courses in the U.S. Wally arranged for us to play with an amazing couple Sally and Louis Brown. They are both wonderful people who would normally have nothing to do with the golf course in the kind of weather we had, but nonetheless stuck it out for my mother and me. Thanks Sally and Louis.

It was unfortunate that the weather did not cooperate. The first day we were met with a torrential down poor in the morning. However the clouds cleared enough to allow us to play 28 holes on the North Course. (we played the 10th twice because no one else was out on the course and my mother and I played it terribly). The next day we played the South Course. What an amazing design. It was tough to find a steady swing due to the occasional snow flurries that would accompany our back swings. Not even the snow could put a damper on the first rounds of 2008. I think that it is going to be a great golf year. Here are some pictures of the trip.
